As we unite hearts and minds with people from around the globe, this year we are affirming together: Love leads me. Faith steadies me. Prayer carries me forward.

Opening Ceremony

Please make plans to join us in the sanctuary for the opening ceremony this Wednesday, September 9 at 7 p.m. and immerse yourself in prayer, music, and contemplation.

Please spread the word for World Peace Festival Fox Cities! This inspirational event is our way to get our name and our values out into our commUNITY. This Saturday is our best, brightest and most fun fundraiser of the year!

Featuring:

• Performances from Mile of Music band Natural Satellite, local bands Love, Light and Harmony and Synchronicity, along with 40+ kids from Badger State Youth Choirs
• Peace pole painting, face painting, kid’s crafts
• Peace song Sing-Along with Loving Awareness and Singing Resistance, led by Savi Gherke
• Speakers from local peace organizations
• Food from Sabee’s Culinary Services and Houdini’s Paninis
• Fox Pops gourmet frozen fruit pops AND MORE

If you've signed up to help for the festival--great!  If you haven't and want to help, just SHOW UP this Saturday, go to our Unity of Appleton tent and we will happily find something for you to do! We start set-up at 8:00 am and tear down around 4:00.  Any assistance in that timeframe is fantastically appreciated.

A book discussion of Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall-Kimmerer will start Wednesday, September 16 from 6:00-7:30 pm in the downtown Appleton Library Unconference Room, first floor, facilitated by Unity of Appleton EarthCare. This is the first of four sessions to be held monthly.

We will discuss the first 100 pages. As you read, please make notations of concepts which stand-out.

Here is a book review of Braiding Sweetgrass:

An inspired weaving of indigenous knowledge, plant science, and personal narrative from a distinguished professor of science and a Native American whose previous book, Gathering Moss, was awarded the John Burroughs Medal for outstanding nature writing.

As a botanist and professor of plant ecology, Robin Wall Kimmerer has spent a career learning how to ask questions of nature using the tools of science. As a Potawatomi woman, she learned from elders, family, and history that the Potawatomi, as well as a majority of other cultures indigenous to this land, consider plants and animals to be our oldest teachers. In Braiding Sweetgrass, Kimmerer brings these two lenses of knowing together to reveal what it means to see humans as "the younger brothers of creation.” As she explores these themes she circles toward a central argument: the awakening of a wider ecological consciousness requires the acknowledgement and celebration of our reciprocal relationship with the world. Once we begin to listen for the languages of other beings, we can begin to understand the innumerable life-giving gifts the world provides us and learn to offer our thanks, our care, and our own gifts in return.

Due to World Peace Festival Fox Cities happening this Saturday, Men's and Women's Mastermind will meet next Saturday, September 19 from 8:30-10:00 am.

Join us Sunday, September 27th for a Fall Potluck.  Bring out your favorite comfort food recipies and let's share great food and conversation. The Transformational Workshop is right afterwards so come to Unity for the morning service, then stay for some excellent food and for the workshop!

Join FreshStart practioner Katie Lochlein for an experiential workshop of healing, self-discovery and genuine connection. Together, we will explore the hidden emotions, limiting beliefs and unconscious patterns that may be shaping your life experience and discover how to release what no longer serves you.

In this workshop, you will

• Discover how trapped emotions affect your emotional and physical well-being
• Explore your triggers through a guided self-discovery
• Experience a live muscle-testing demonstration
• Learn practical ways to release limiting beliefs and emotional blocks
